The English and Bangla questions leaked out prior to the Primary School Certificate examinations bear a partial resemblance to the original ones, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has said.
A three-member probe body entrusted with investigation into the question leakage found the clue, he told reporters yesterday at the Primary Education Ministry.
Primary Education Ministry Additional Secretary Ashraf Hossain heads the probe team.
The team found 80% similarity between the original question of English and the leaked one, and 50% between the original one for Bangla and the one leaked out.
The minister termed the leakage of question papers “partial” and claimed that it would not put any negative impact over answer script evaluation and awarding scholarships for the best students.
“We have no plan to cancel the examinations,” he said.
The examination was supposed to end on November 28, but because of blockades, it ended on December 6.
The probe team got a 15-working day to submit its report, but it came up with the report three days earlier than the deadline.
Nahid said a coaching centre in Mymensingh and officials at the National Academy for Primary Education had been suspected of leakage.
He added that questions of English and Bangla were partially leaked in Dhaka, Khulna, Satkhira and Dinajpur.
He mentioned that the investigation was going on, and if the suspects were found guilty, steps would be taken against them under the criminal offences and administrative procedure.
The committee also made recommendations for question selection and printing and also proofreading.
All these had be done following modern system, he said, adding that the system of proofreading should be cancelled.
