A victim of the mindless arson attack on a running bus in Shahbagh succumbed to her burn injuries at a private clinic in Dhaka Wednesday morning.
Deceased Masuma Akhter, 25, was an officer of Rupali Bank Limited, Shyambazar branch.
Former Dhaka Medical College Hospital burn unit chief and owner of Dhaka Burn Clinic Professor Shamsuddin said Akhter passed away at 11:15am.
“She suffered critical burn injuries to her throat,” he told the Dhaka Tribune. “We could not save her.”
Husband of the victim, Mahbub Bhuiyan also confirmed the death.
Miscreants hurled a petrol-bomb at a running passenger bus on November 28 during a blockade programme of the BNP-led 18-party alliance.
Nineteen people, including a journalist and a lawyer, were burned. Three of the burn victims have already died.
Two BNP supporters have been arrested over involvement in the arson attack.
