Another Padma bridge deal signed

The government yesterday signed a contract with the construction firm Abdul Monem Limited for the construction of the service area-2 at Jajira point of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Construction Project.

The firm will construct mosques, motel mess, resort reception buildings, supervision offices, 30 duplex houses, overhead water tank, health centre, guard houses, electric sub-station, fire detection and fire fighting systems under the project.

The construction work of the main Padma Multipurpose Bridge will start by next May or June, 2014, Communications Minister ObaidulQuader said at the contract signing ceremony.

The minister said: “The government has already taken preparation to start the construction work. The tender documents will be received on December 19 to finalise the process.”

The programme was held at SetuBhabanin the city.

Project Director of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Construction Project Shafiqul Islam and Director of the Abdul Monem Limited Abid Habib signed the contract on behalf of their respective organisations.

According to the contract, the construction firm will complete their work at the expense of TK2.09b by 912 days.

Bridge Division Secretary KhandakarAnwarul Islam and other high officials attended the programme.
