War criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla did not seek for the clemency of President Abdul Hamid ahead of his execution.

The information was made public by junior Law Minister Quamrul Islam at a press briefing, Tuesday evening.

It was from that press conference that the execution of Quader Molla was announced to be carried out a minute after the midnight of Tuesday.

Quader Molla refused to seek the president’s clemency in the presence of two magistrates, Quamrul Islam said.

Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Abdur Razzak had said Quader Molla sought for a review but was undecided on presidential clemency.

On Monday, the family of Quader Molla had said that the convicted Jamaat leader was being denied of rights and the government was hurrying for his execution.
