The family of war criminal Abdul Quader Molla has been asked to meet the convicted Jamaat-e-Islami leader in prison by 8pm Tuesday.
Dhaka Central Jail authority has issued a letter in this regard around 5:15pm, Hassan Jamil, son of Quader Molla, told the Dhaka Tribune.
“We have been asked to meet him in prison by 8pm today (Tuesday),” he said. He was on his way to Dhaka Central Jail at 6:20pm.
The family, later revealed the content of the letter to the Dhaka Tribune. It said:
“Your husband is a death sentenced convict in captivity in the Dhaka Central Jail. You along with your family members are requested to meet him by 8pm tonight (Tuesday).”
“The matter is of urgency,” the letter, signed by authority said.
In latest developments, authorities said Molla will be given seven days to seek clemency from President Abdul Hamid after the death warrant reaches jail authorities.
Meanwhile, the family alleged that the government was denying Molla his constitutional rights and was in a hurry to execute him under pressure from Ganajagaran Mancha.
The full verdict of this Jamaat leader said death was the only just punishment for his crimes committed against humanity during 1971.
Within three days of publication of Quader Molla’s full verdict, the first complete verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal, his death warrant was issued.
