Flamingo makes maiden voyage

International standard cruise vessel MV Flamingo with a capacity of carrying 300 tourists made its maiden voyage on the Buriganga River yesterday.

 

This is the first ever luxurious cruise vessel made in Bangladesh, 110 feet long and 32 feet wide having 21 air conditioned cabins with attached bath, spa and massage parlours, gymnasium, restaurant and conference room.

 

It is operated by Reggae Entertainment and Tourism Ltd, reports BSS.

 

Bangladesh Tourism Board CEO Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir inaugurated the vessel. President of Tour Operators’ Association of Bangladesh Toufiq Uddin Ahmed was present at the event.

 

Reggae Entertainment and Tourism Ltd Managing Director AKM Jamal Uddin Jasim and Chief Executive Officer Taslim Amin Shovon also spoke at the onboard inaugural function.

 

Kabir said more and more investment from the private sector along with the government is needed in tourism sector for flourishing this high economically potential sector.

 

The BTB chief hoped that this kind of luxurious cruise ship will help attract more foreign tourists in the

country.

 

The Flamingo will be operated on Buriganga for daylong river cruise as well as from Dhaka to Sundarbans for five day tours.
