The United States has issued an alert to its citizens travelling or leaving in Bangladesh in face of violence over the upcoming national elections, which is to be held on January 5.
The US Department of State issued the alert on its website on Tuesday.
The State Department said the pre-election periods have seen several unrests by the supporters of the two major political parties in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, it urged the citizens to remain alert regarding their personal security and to remain informed about the locations of police and fire stations, hospitals, and other places in order to feel secure.
Ruling Awami League and BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance are accusing each other over the violence that have claimed several lives during the countrywide blockade.
The country had hit a political deadlock on how the next elections will be held.
