Miscreants are now planning to sink launches and ferries as part of no-going sabotage attempts, Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan claimed Wednesday.
“We have information of such conspiracy,” he said and added that the government had taken preventive measures to this regard.
“Law enforcers have strengthened patrols. Some other confidential measures have also been taken,” he said.
He was speaking in a press conference on Wednesday to describe the current situation of riverine transportation in view of the on-going agitation.
Terming the opposition movement “violence” the minister said “movement and violence are not the same.”
“Their violence have crossed the limit of medieval brutality. It is the responsibility of the government, opposition and the people to stop it,” he said.
He also urged the opposition to abstain from violence.
Recently, rail communication have been a key target for sabotage in violence over opposition demand for elections under non-partisan government.
