Law Ministry meets on law and order

The Ministry of Law sat in a meeting at the secretariat Wednesday morning to discuss the overall law and order situation of the country.

The meeting began with an unusual company of Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan. The secretary has not been seen in these meetings before.

This is the first cabinet committee meeting regarding law and order after the formation of polls-time government.

The meeting is being held in view of the current situation of law and order in the country amidst the on-going agitation of 18-party alliance.

Several people have already died in violence over the demand for upcoming national elections to be held under a non-partisan government.

Details will later be revealed at a press conference after the meeting.

Among others present were: junior Home Minister Shamsul Hoque Tuku, senior Home Secretary CQK Mostaq Ahmed, Industry Minister Tofail Ahmed, Relief Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Post and Telecommunications Minister Rashed Khan Menon, and Rail Minister Mojibul Haque.

The Director General of paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and elite force Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) along with police IGP were also present.
