The public administration ministry on Tuesday issued orders appointing a new divisional commissioner for Dhaka and a new deputy commissioner for Khulna.
Zillar Rahman, additional secretary of the health ministry, was assigned as Dhaka’s new divisional commissioner, while Anis Mahmud, deputy project director of the Identification System for Enhancing Access to Services, was made Khulna’s new deputy commissioner.
Ministry officials said Zillar Rahman, a former deputy commissioner of Dhaka, was a trusted officer of the incumbent government.
Meanwhile, AM Shamsuddin Azad Chowdhury, the outgoing divisional commissioner of Dhaka, was transferred to the health ministry as an additional secretary. Mejbah Uddin, Khulna’s outgoing deputy commissioner, was sent to the local government division as a deputy secretary.
The latest transfers were made following orders from the Election Commission ahead of the upcoming general elections.
