Police on Tuesday foiled the march of a group of day labourers who were on their way to lay a siege to opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence.
The day labourers were protesting the 18-party’s blockade programme that has left them without any work, starving them of any earnings.
A group of day labourers brought out a procession from Mohakhali area around 12pm and moved towards Khaleda’s residence to lay the siege.
As the procession reached Gulshan-2, police blocked the transport labourers.
Later, they took position on the road for a while and chanted various anti-blockade slogans.
Earlier on Monday, police had foiled a similar march brought out by pro-ruling party transport workers to besiege Khaleda’s Gulshan residence in protest at the ongoing countrywide blockade.
