18 submit nomination papers for six constituencies in Khulna

At least 16 candidates of different parties and two independents yesterday submitted nomination papers for six constituencies in Khulna for January 5 elections.

The two candidates who submitted nomination papers for Khulna-1 constituency to Nurul Hafiz, assistant returning officer and UNO of Dakop upazila (Batiaghata-Dakop), were Panchanon Biswas(Awami League) and Sunil Subho Roy (Jatiya Party-

Ershad).

The three candidates who submitted nomination papers for Khulna-2 constituency (Sadar-Sonadanga) to Mesbahuddin, returning officer and deputy commissioner, were Mizanur Rahman Mizan (AL), Abdul Gaffar Biswas (Jatiya Party-Ershad), and Rashida Karim (JP-Monju), reports BSS.

Among the five candidates who submitted nomination papers to the Khulna Returning Officer for Khulna-3 (Khalishpur- Daulatpur-Khanjahan Ali) were state minister for labour and employment Begum Monnuzan Sufian (AL), and AL rebel candidate and ex-panel mayor-2 of Khulna City Corporation Moniruzzaman Mony. The other three were AL city unit publicity secretary Ashraful Islam, Shafiqul Islam Modhu (Jatiya Party-Ershad), and independent candidate and councilor of KCC Shahida Begum.

Three candidates submitted nomination papers to Khulna Returning Officer for Khulna-4 constituency (Rupsha-Terokhada-Dighalia). They are SM Mostofa Rashidi Suja (AL), Mallick Hadiuzzaman (Jatiya Party- Ershad) and Rupsha upazila chairman Ali Akbor.

AL sitting lawmaker Narayan Chandra Chanda submitted nomination paper to Selim Reza, assistant returning officer and acting UNO of Dumuria Upazila, while M Zohor Ali Morol of Jatiya party (Ershad) and Comorade Hafizur Rahman of Workers party submitted nomination papers to Lulu Bilkis Banu, assistant returning officer and UNO of Phultala upazila for Khulna-5 (Dumuria-Phultala) constituency.

Advocate Sheikh Md. Nurul Haque of AL submitted nomination paper to Khulna Returning Officer while Mostofa Kamal Zahangir of Jatiya Party (Ershad) submitted nomination paper to Md. Hazrat Ali, Assistant Returning Officer and UNO of Koyra for Khulna-6 (Koyra-Paikgachha) constituency.

At least 24 candidates bought nomination papers for the upcoming parliamentary election.
