Piprabidya to premiere at Dubai

Farooki’s fifth feature film Piprabidya starring Noor Imran Mithu, Sabbir Ahmed and Indian actress Sheena Chohan is ready for its world premiere at the 10th Dubai International Film Festival. It is competing with nine award winning films such as Lunchbox by Ritesh Vatra, Fish and Cat by Sahara Makkah, Stay Drugs by Tsai Ming Liang and GriGris by Mahamat Saleh Haroun.

The festival will start from December 6 and continue on till December 13. A total of 174 movies in various catagories will be screened, with the opening film Omar by Abu Asad and the event will close with David O’ Russell’s American Hustle. On the last day of festival, winning films will be declared with huge festivity. Cate Blanchett, Jim Sheridan, Martin Sheen, Priyanka Chopra and many other celebrities will attend the programme.

The film Piprabidya, an Impress Telefilm Limited production, is about unemployed young people who live in Dhaka, which they think of as a “big pie” and become desperate to have their share. Faridur Reza Sagor, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Shina Chouhan will attend the festival with celebrated actors, directors and producers.

The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) was launched 9 years ago and its impact on the region’s film industry has been enormous.

This week-long film festival serves as a platform where local and international directors, film-makers, writers and actors come together to share ideas and inspiration through workshops and seminars to help each other achieve success in the regional market.
