Three police officers and the upazila nirbahi officer were wounded in a clash between blockade supporters and law enforcers on Saturday afternoon.
Several blockade supporters were also injured in the clash.
The clash erupted when police tried to remove the blockade on Jessore-Keshabpur road at Begaritala, Monirampur upazila sometime around 3:30pm, said the police and locals.
Eyewitnesses said the blockade supporters damaged the vehicle of UNO Sharif Nazrul Islam, a police van and set a truck on fire during the clash.
Reshma Sharmin, assistant superintendent of police, Jessore told the Dhaka Tribune that the UNO of Monirampur and three policemen were wounded in the clash.
“The wounded were rushed to Monirampur upazila health complex”, she added.
Tension gripped the area after the clash between the police and pro-blockade activists.
