One more burn victim succumbed to injuries on Friday while undergoing treatment at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Robin, 22, a garment worker from Savar.
DMCH residential Surgeon Partha Shankar Pal confirmed the news with the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “Robin was admitted to the hospital with 90% burn injuries and shifted to the ICU. He died around 3:40pm on Friday.”
Earlier, on Thursday, Robin, along with 18 other passengers, was severely injured as a bus of Bihanga Paribahan of Sadarghat-Mirpur route came under attack around 6pm.
Two pickets on a motorcycle threw a petrol bomb on the running vehicle near Matsya Bhaban.
As fire spread quickly, the driver stopped the bus and many passengers were able to get out.
Law enforcers and local people took the injured to the DMCH where doctors had a tough time attending to so many burn victims at a time.
Robin’s cousin Nahid, who was a victim of the arson attack, succumbed to his injuries at the ICU on the same night.
Doctors said 53% of Nahid’s respiratory system was damaged by the fire.
