Law enforcers are coming down hard during the current situation and will continue to do so, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Benazir Ahmed said on Wednesday.
He was speaking to reporters after holding a nearly one hour meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad at the Election Commission.
“The DMP is prepared to assist the Election Commission with any form of assistance asked,” he said.
The BNP-led opposition 18-party called a nationwide 48-hour blockade after the Election Commission announced it would hold the 10th general elections on January 5.
At least nine people have died already in violence in several regions of the country during the blockade.
