New turn in Chhoby’s career

Update : 25 Nov 2013, 07:00 PM

Farzana Chhoby is one of the busiest actors on the small screen nowadays and it is about time, her career is taking a new turn with her first silver screen debut on the pipeline. Currently, Chhoby is busy with her ongoing shooting of several drama series and her busy schedule prompted her to get selective about the projects she gets involved with.

In an interview with Dhaka Tribune, Chhoby shares her aspirations and talks about her career:

Tell us about the release of your first film.

I am very excited about my debut film and is very proud that I chose a story that reflects something real and addresses the suffering of people. The shooting of the film is complete and it is titled Jyotsna Rater Golpo.

The movie is directed by Biplob Haider and I am the protagonist of the film. It showcases the suffering of men living near riverbanks as there is frequent erosion that washes away the livelihoods of men overnight. It will be released in cinemas next year.

Currently, how many TV serials or dramas are you working on?

Right now, seven of my drama series are aired in different channels. I really enjoy my role in the drama series Progya Paromita directed by Matia Banu Shuku and Juboraj Khan. My other projects are Mainul Islam Khokon’s Jibon Sangsar, Anjan Aich’s Jol Phoringer Gaan, Mohon Khan’s Nir Khoje Gangchil, Faisal Rajib’s Purba, Fajlur Rahman’s Dosh Bochhor Pore, and  Belal Ahmed’s Shubhojatra.

Which one did you enjoy the most?

Of course I like all of them but I had a great time playing a negative role in the drama series Jibon Sangsar, directed by Mainul Islam Khokon. It was a first for me and I loved every moment of the challenging feat.

Jibon Sangsar is a family based drama series that depicts the rule of an anti-character in a family.

I play the role of the family’s eldest son’s wife. My motivation in the drama is to marry my younger sister with my brother-in-law. But, instead of following my wish, my brother-in-law marries another woman and I become very antagonised towards her. Everyday, I srtive to make her life miserable by creating a web of complex situations, to make her look bad in front of the family.

How do you manage time to work in so many projects?

It is not an easy task. I have discovered that utilising time in an efficient manner is the essence of success. Therefore, it is a difficult task. I had to make many sacrifices and work at all hours, sometimes, I did not even have the luxury of sound sleep. I hardly got any time off during the entire period, but still, I tried my level best to deliver good performances in each of my projects.

Any new ventures?

Recently I have signed up for a TVC of RFL. Also, I just returned from abroad, after completing the shooting of two drama series. One of them is Ehsanul Haque’s Obhibashi, and the other is Je Jole Agun Jole by Agun Ahmed.
