The cabinet meeting gave the final approval for the draft of DNA law on Monday.
This was the maiden meeting of the new cabinet which was formed to guide the country through the upcoming elections.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.
The draft law will be sent for approval from President Abdul Hamid before being placed in front of parliament.
The draft law recommends the establishment of an office that will collect DNA samples and put them in a national database.
DNA is the genetic signature of human beings; it is unique to each individual.
The office would be assisted by an advisory panel from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
