A National University teacher was given three months’ bail in the defamation suit for derogatory comments made towards the prime minister and her family.
A High Court bench of Justice Md Shawkat Hossain and Justice Jahangir Hossain granted the bail on Sunday.
AKM Wahiduzzaman, a geography department teacher of National University, was said to have posted comments defaming Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed on Facebook.
A case was filed to this regard by AB Siddiqui, leader of a pro-Awami organisation, in October. A Dhaka court issued an arrest order for Shawkat on that very day.
He was later given a month’s bail time on October 11.
Later on November 6, he was sent to jail after he appeared before court and pleaded for extension
