Victimised by dope gangs policeman, trader fight for lives

A police constable and a fabric trader fell victim to separate dope gangs in the capital’s Elephant Road and Chittagong Road yesterday and were struggling for their lives at unconscious state.

Police Constable Anwar Hossain, 20, of Mill Barrack Police Lines, who is a gunman of an Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital.

DMCH sources said Anwar was recovered from a bus in the capital’s Elephant Road around 10am in unconscious state. Police shifted him to the Rajarbagh Police Lines in the afternoon.

Trader Sirajul Islam, 32, of Demra, was rescued from Chittagong Highway in the afternoon and admitted to a clinic at Kanchpur before being shifted to the DMCH.

Family members said Sirajul lost Tk600,000.
