A diploma student was killed when a bus ran over him in front of Nilkhet High School in the capital’s Nilkhet area on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Md Sazzadul Anamul, 25, a second-year student of a diploma course at the Jubo Unnayan Odhidoptor. The victim’s father is a security guard of Dhaka University’s Curzon Hall.
Victim’s father Shafiqul Islam told reporters that Anamul was returning home by a bicycle around 2:30pm when a local bus of route-13 ran over him. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.
However, the body was handed over to victim’s family members without autopsy in accordance with an application filed by them, Inspector MA Jalil of Shahbagh police station said.
On hearing the news of his death, his fellow classmates came down to the streets and vandalised at least five buses: one at Palashi, two at Nilkhet, one in front of Azimpur Orphanage and another in front of Azimpur Girls’ High School.
Later, the law enforcers dispersed the agitated people from the street.
