The Election Commission may announce the schedule of the next general elections by next week, a commissioner of the EC hinted.
Election Commissioner Md Shah Newaz made the disclosure while speaking to journalists at Chandpur.
He added: “We are completely ready for holding the elections anytime.”
The Election Commission wants all parties’ participation in the elections, Shah Nawaz said.
“We hope the EC can hold a fair election,” he said.

“The elections might be held in the first week of January. It has not been finalised yet,” said the commissioner.
However, the BNP-led 18-party alliance on Friday afternoon threatened to paralyse the country as soon as the election schedule is announced.
