A depression on the centre-west Bay of Bengal has moved westwards and consolidated as Cyclone Helen.
The cyclone was located 1,885km southwest of Chittagong port; 1,135km southwest of Cox’s Bazar and 1,025 km southwest of Mongla port. This can condense even further and move in a west-northwest direction.
The wind velocity of the cyclone was 62kmph and increasing up to 88kmph. The sea remains very volatile.
Chittagong, Cox’s Bazaar and Mongla ports have been instructed to show cautionary signal number two, instead of signal number one.
Fishing boats and trawlers have also been asked to remain cautious and refrain from entering deep-sea areas till further instruction.
