Traffic resumes on Dhaka-Chittagong highway

Update : 20 Nov 2013, 02:52 PM

The vehicular movement on Dhaka-Chittagong highway resumed several hours after it had been suspended due to Jamaat’s rampage on the highway on Wednesday.

Vehicular movements, which had been halted since 3pm because of the rampage, resumed on around 8:30pm.

Earlier in the day, Jamaat leaders and activists went on a rampage in Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong district following the death of their leader Aminul Islam.

Local Jamaat activists claimed that local Awami League activists and police killed Aminul, who went missing three days ago.

Later, they torched three trucks while vandalising 10-15 vehicles along the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the afternoon.
