Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated nine development projects and laid the foundation stone of three others in Chandpur on Wednesday.
The projects, worth Tk15.54bn in total, were inaugurated via a video conference from Ganabhaban.
“I promised of a digital Bangladesh. That is why I am inaugurating projects digitally,” she said while making a speech for the occasion.
Hasina asserted that her government wished to distribute the benefits of an earned independence to each house in the country.
She promised power to all in Bangladesh and a government school, college and a central mosque in every upazila and district.
The premier also said her government wants to alleviate poverty and hunger by 2021. She highlighted her government’s contribution to the information technology sector.
She pointed to her promises made to Chandpur during the last elections, and sought votes in the next polls to maintain the pace of development.
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Home Minister MK Alamgir, Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ismail Hossain, Deputy district Awami League President Shamsul Haque Bhuiyan, and others spoke at the occasion.
