AHM Nouman, a Bangladeshi rights activist, won the Gusi Peace Prize International-2013 for his outstanding contribution to `poverty alleviation and humanitarianism’ in Bangladesh.
Nouman, founder and secretary general of Development Organisation of the Rural Poor (DORP), a national NGO, is the lone Bangladeshi to get the prestigious award, which is being awarded since 2002 to the world’ s distinguished personalities, says a UNB report.
The award will be handed over to the winners at a colorful award giving ceremony in Manila, capital of Philippines, on November 27, said a press release.
Gusi Peace Prize International Foundation is an international organisation of Philippines. Barry Gusi, a renowned internationalist, is the chair of the foundation.
