At least two people were killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a three wheeler at Nayanpur on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway under Shreepur upazila in Gazipur on Saturday morning.
One of the deceased was identified as Shohag, 26, son of Khorshed Alam of Baghaicuti village in Mymensingh.
Mawna highway police station Officer-in-charge Sanwar Hossain said: “a Mymensigh bound truck collided head-on with a three wheeler at Nayanpur area, leaving four passengers of the three wheeler critically injured around 11:30am.”
He said: “Locals rushed them to Al-hera Hospital where the duty doctor declared two of them dead.”
Later, two other injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Police seized the truck but the driver managed to flee the spot.
Police sources said driver met with another accident while trying to flee after the incident.
