Jahangirnagar University authority yesterday declared the schedule for election of teacher representatives in senate brushing aside teachers’ protest.
The declaration came through a press release that said the polls would be held on December 7 at JU Teachers and Officers Club between 9am and 1:30pm.
The university Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique, also returning officer of the election, made the declaration. He said polls would take place according to Jahangirnagar University act.
Following the polls schedule, a preliminary voter list will be published on November 16 while November 18 has been fixed as deadline for submission of any complaints against the voter list, according to the release.
It said the final voter list would come out on November 20.
The deadline for submitting nomination papers by the aspiring candidates has been fixed on November 23.
The release added that any candidates wishing not to contest the polls might withdraw their nomination papers on November 28.
The final list of contestants would be published on November 30.
Meantime, Teachers-Students and Officers-Employees’ United Forum, an anti-VC platform, yesterday at a press conference protested against the teacher-representative polls.
