A youth was hacked to death in the capital’s Islambagh area early on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Monir Sarder, 18, hailed from Shariyatpur district and a worker of Mousumi Factory in East Islambagh.
Inspector Azizul Huq, operation officer of Chawkbazar police station said: “A gang of criminals stabbed Monir while he was standing on a road at 10:30pm.”
He said: “Monir was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries around 2:30am.”
Monir’s co-workers Borhan and Arif, who rushed him to DMCH, said they could not identify the killers and the reason behind the murder.
However, Borhan and Arif were detained for interrogation.
Meanwhile, his body was sent to the hospital morgue.
