The holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA), grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), is being observed today across the country with due religious solemnity.
Entrapped by Yazid’s forces on this day, 10th Muharram, in the Hijri year 61, Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA), his family members and close relations embraced martyrdom in Karbala to uphold the spirit of Islam and the teachings of the Great Prophet.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasions paying deep respects to Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala, reports BSS.
Different religious organisations have chalked out various programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.
