A doctor on Thursday paid a heavy price in the capital being subjected to part with his genitals because of an alleged extramarital affair.
The victim was Dr Mohammad Al Amin, 35, currently studying at a master’s course in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
Amin was picked up in a van and castrated in Paribag area around 8:30am while on his way to the university, police said. He was rushed to BSMMU immediately and later moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 5pm when his condition deteriorated.
An extramarital affair might lead to the incident, Shahbagh police Inspector (investigation) MA Jalil told the Dhaka Tribune. “His wife filed an abduction suit in this regard.”
The doctor's wife Umme Salma, however, told the Dhaka Tribune that this was an act of criminal offence and she wanted exemplary punishment to those criminals.
