Humayun Ahmed’s birthday celebrated with an array of programmes

Friends, family, peers and followers of the celebrated litterateur the late Humayun Ahmed gathered at the premises of Channel i on November 13, to celebrate Ahmed’s 65th birth anniversary. A wide range of programmes were arranged for the celebration such as music sessions, a dance recital, poetry recital and such. The gathered crowd released yellow balloons to mark the opening of the programme titled Humayun Mela 2013 that was aired live in Channel i at 11:10am.

Many in the crowd were dressed in yellow punjabi, like Ahmed’s popular character Himu.

Director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, director Jahir Uddin Mahmud Mamun, Meher Afroz Shaon, professor Anwar Hossain, Anwar Sayd Haque, poet Md Nurul Huda, Hasan Hafiz, Selim Chowdhury, editor of Anyadin Mazharul Islam, editor of Anandoalo Rezanur Rahman, film director Shahidul Islam Khokon, Ali Imam, Keramat Mawla, Farid Ali, Faruque Ahmed, singer Indo Mohon Rajbongshi , Fakir Alamgir, Maksud Jamil Mintu, Maznun Mizan and many more noted personalities were present at the celebration named Himu Day since last year’s celebration.

Shaon Ahmed shared at the programme: “We don’t want to express sorrow on our beloved Humayun’s birthday. He is among us as always, this day is a cause for celebration.”

A volume of compilation of the Himu series titled Himu Shomogro was inaugurated at the event.

The programme went forward with Fakir Alamgir and his troupe performing a song written by Humayun Ahmed.

Chandana Majumder performed Amar Sonar Moyna Pakhi, Akramul Islam presented Nisha Lagilo Re, Farida Parvin sang Andhar Na Theke Jodi Ki Hobe Alo and many other songs written by Humayun Ahmed, along with his favourite songs were performed at the fair. Dazzling dance performances was an attention grabbing element at the fair. Popular band Monoshoroni performed a song titled Ami Makorsha.

To make the occasion interesting for youngsters, an art competition was arranged as part of the fair.

DVDs, CDs and VCDs of TV plays and films directed by Humayun Ahmed was available at various stalls. And ofcourse many stalls offered books of the legendary litterateur. The fair was open till evening for the visitors and the programme was broadcasted till 2pm.
