The Fiscal Coordination Council on Tuesday decided that the rural infrastructure development project grants of Tk150m – to be disbursed through the parliament members – would be included in the planning ministry’s development projects in the respective constituencies.
A member of the council said: “There are chances that the lawmakers might indiscriminately take out the Tk150m, allotted to each of them for financing development projects in their constituencies, especially because the tenure of the parliament is nearing its end.”
He also said: “The funds worth Tk150m each will be properly used by the planning ministry in its development projects.”
In March 2010, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council approved a project granting the amounts to the lawmakers.
As per Ecnec decision, the project was undertaken for rural development in line with the lists provided by the lawmakers.
The lawmakers were not supposed to get any cash.
