114 workers leave for Malaysia

Update : 07 Nov 2013, 07:00 PM

A Malaysia-bound Malaysian Airlines flight carrying 114 migrant workers left Dhaka at 12:50pm yesterday.

The workers will be employed in the plantation sector, said an assistant director at Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training.

The official said another flight carrying 47 migrants is also scheduled to fly out from dhaka today. Under the government-to-government arrangement, around 1,000 migrant workers have so far gone to Malaysia to work, each spending only Tk30,000.

At present, a worker is earning Tk25,000 a month. Earlier, a migrant labourer needed Tk200,000 to Tk300,000 to travel to Malaysia and in many cases the workers failed to find jobs.
