Bhoirob goes to television

Channel i is going to produce a TV soap on Kazi Shahid Ahmed’s landmark novel Bhoirob soon. A programme announcing the new venture of the channel and also celebrating the 74th birth anniversary of the veteran writer, also the chairman of Gemcon Group, was held on Thursday on the premises of Channel i.

Famed writer Syed Shamsul Haq and Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar were also present at the programme among other distinguished guests.

Bhoirob, set on the backdrop of the Liberation War in 1971, is Ahmed’s first novel and is published by Agami Prakashani.

The novel is a symbolic presentation of the emergence of Bangladesh and the main character Bhoirob is vocal against the Brtish and Pakistani rule. The protagonist, with his lover Shiuly, challenges the fundamentalist Muslims surrounding him which is a highlighting point of the novel.
