On Thursday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said her invitation to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to sit down to talks is still valid, reports UNB.
“My invitation to the opposition chief still stands,” she told a FBCCI delegation at a meeting.
As part of their efforts to break the country’s prolonged political deadlock through a peaceful way, top business leaders met the Prime Minister at her office.
FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed led the business delegation at the meeting. Former FBCCI presidents and other trade body leaders were also at the meeting.
Earlier on Sunday, they met BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office and suggested that she authorise secretary-general level dialogue to reach a consensus over an interim cabinet to oversee the next polls.
The FBCCI President urged the country’s two top political leaders to reach an understanding, and said his organization will continue to mount pressure on the politicians to resolve the political crisis peacefully and ensure a sound business environment.
