At least 21 people were arrested over hartal violence in different areas of the capital during the first day of the 60-hour hartal on Monday.
Some of the arrestees were: Shibir leader Faisal Mahmud, 19; Dhaka University Shibir activist Iqbal Hossain, 20; Titumir College Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist Mozammel Hossain, 20; Swechchhasebak Dal activist Md Rahim, 30; and picket Md Sujon, 25.
Meanwhile, separate mobile courts sentenced 10 of them to different terms imprisonment.
Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the media centre at Dhaka Metropolitan Police said they were all arrested and jailed for hartal violence, including bomb and arson attacks.
One of the mobile courts sentenced Faisal, Iqbal, Mozammel and Rahim to six-month. They were arrested with bombs from Shyampur and Jatrabari areas.
Another mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion-4 sentenced Sujon to three-months in prison after he was arrested from Mirpur NAM Building in the morning.
Five others were jailed at for different periods.
