Update : 03 Nov 2013, 04:17 AM

On SundayPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to the four national leaders who were brutally killed in Dhaka Central Jail on November 3, 1975.

Close associates of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Liberation War heroes Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain Mansur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman fell victims to the killings in jail.

In a message on the eve of the Jail Killing Day, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of the four leaders and said such killings in the safe custody of jail are unprecedented in the world, reports BSS.

She said the killings of the four national leaders were the sequel to the killing of the Father of the Nation and his family members. Through these killings, the conspirators wanted to erase the name of Bangladesh Awami League, she added.

Sheikh Hasina said the verdict of the Bangabandhu killing case has been executed partially and efforts are on to bring back the remaining killers to implement the verdict fully.

The jail killing case is under trial in the highest court of the country, she added.

A group with vested interests is conspiring to hamper trial process of war criminals, Sheikh Hasina said and urged the people to be united and imbued with spirit of War of Liberation to resist the conspiracy.

The Prime Minister said she hoped that the country would be freed from hunger, poverty and illiteracy by 2021 with the united efforts of all.
