Gonojagoron Moncho happy with Quasem verdict

Update : 30 Aug 2016, 12:13 PM
In his immediate reaction to the verdict, Imran H Sarkar, spokesperson of one of the factions of the Moncho, expressed his satisfaction. He said: “We welcome the verdict. With this this verdict the truth has won and the false has been defeated.” However, he accused the convicted war criminal of trying to manipulate the verdict. “Mir Quasem tried to manipulate the verdict by using his wealth but it went in vein,” he added. Imran urged to the government to execute Mir Quasem Ali's verdict soon. He said: “Now we want quick execution of the verdict as the execution will establish rule of law in Bangladesh.” Imran hoped that with the execution of the verdict the process of banning Jamat-e-Islami will be taken a step forward. Earlier in the day, a five-member Appellate Division panel of the Supreme Court upheld death sentence for Mir Quasem Ali for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971. The panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha gave the judgement rejecting Mir Quasem’s appeal to review his death penalty.
