Fusion singers Labik Kamal Gaurob and Nobonita Chowdhury will perform this evening at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Gulshan.
Gaurob is the founder member and lead vocalist of the rock fusion band Ajob. Formed in 2001, Ajob released their debut album in 2006 under the leading Bangladeshi record label Ektaar Music.
His solo album “Paar Koro,” comprising baul songs, was released in 2009, and was acclaimed by both listeners and critics at home and abroad. Ajob’s second album “Hajar Bhooter Rajar Doya” is complete and waiting to be released soon.
Nobonita Chowdhury is an expert in both Tagore and folk songs. She has found philosophical resemblance between the works of Tagore and the Bengali folk mystics like Lalon Shai, Hason Raja and others and has started practicing and performing folk songs.
Nobonita’s first album “Ami Jontro Tumi Jontree” was released in 2007. It was a compilation of Lalon songs and the music was arranged by the famous rock musician Ayub Bachchu.
