Begum Rokeya University VC receives death threat

Vice-chancellor of Rangpur’s Begum Rokeya University, Dr AKM Nur–un–Nabi, received a death threat via text message on Friday.

The Vice-chancellor said a general diary was filed with Kotwali Police Station regarding the incident, reports UNB.

The message read: “You will be killed in bomb throwing in your house or vehicle if step is not taken to release the arrested leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir and stop their arrest.”

Shafiqul Islam, the in-charge of the university police camp said they were trying to arrest the culprit by tracking the vice-chancellor’s mobile phone number.

Meanwhile, Dr Hafizur Rahman Selim and Dr Tuhin Wadud, on behalf of Sammilita Shikkhak Samaj, condemned the death threat and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved.
