Bangladesh archer Prenonoy Murang finished fourth in the continental qualifying test of the Youth Olympic Games 2014 yesterday at the Songshan District, Taipei City in Chinese Taipei.
Murang defeated John Phillip of Philippines 6 sets to 4 and Japan’s Muto Hirki in the quarter-final before being beaten by top ranked Philippines archer Louise Gabriel 2-6. Murang went on to lose to Kazakhstan’s Yagudier Ansar in the third-place match, while Gabrile went on to win the tournament.
Another Bangladeshi archer Hira Moni crashed out after a losing a hard fought encounter with Iranian Farahmand in a tie-break.
Bangladesh’s next game in the 18th Asian Archery Championship will take place tomorrow. -SH
