India’s border security force (BSF) caught a Bangladeshi national from the Benipur-Kushumpur frontier under Maheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah on Thursday morning. He was identified as Potol Mia, 32.
Kushumpur camp commander of BGB, Abdul Kader, confirmed the news and said Potol had been arrested by a patrolling unit of BSF when he entered the Indian border through Kushumpur around 8am.
He went there to bring cattle heads from India but could not produce valid documents about his visit when asked to do so by BSF personnel, he added.
BGB sent a letter to BSF after the arrest, requesting that a flag meeting be held to arrange his release. However, no such meetings were reported to be held until the afternoon.
