Update : 25 Oct 2013, 01:01 PM

At least two individuals have been killed in Cox’s Bazar’s Chakaria upazila on Friday afternoon when the activists of the 18-party alliance clashed with BGB and police members defying the ban imposed by the administration on programmes.

Upazila BNP claimed the deceased, Mizan, 25, and Belal Uddin Badsha, 24, were Chhatra Dal activists.

Witnesses said the activists of upazila BNP and its other allies hurled crude bombs at the law enforcers as they intercepted the procession brought out by the opposition men.

A chase and counter chase ensued and at one point the law enforcers opened fire on the opposition activists leaving the two dead on the spot.

Ranjit Barua, officer-in-charge of Chakaria police station, confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.

However, the OC denied commenting on exactly how the BNP activists had died.
