Update : 25 Oct 2013, 08:40 AM

The opposition party, who had earlier requested Dhaka Metropolitan Police to grant them permission to hold the rally, received the nod on 11 conditions. Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the news with the Dhaka Tribune.

The conditions are:

All activities of the rally and the use of loudspeakers must be limited within the area of the Suhrawardy Udyan. Ample security personnel must be stationed to ensure security of the programme. Loudspeakers/projections cannot be used outside the boundary of the park or on the adjacent roads. People cannot gather on the roads, streets and walkways outside the park. The stage for the rally must be set up at the point fixed by the police and cannot be used for any other purpose other than the rally. No harm can be done to the installations or the plantations inside the park. People can only start coming to the venue two hours before the programme at the earliest and the programme must end by 1700hrs. No one will be allowed to gather on the roads and streets adjacent to the rally venue and block traffic before the stipulated time. If there is any violation of this condition, no permission will be granted in future for similar programmes. No activity that might disrupt law and order, harm the interests and security of the public and the state will be allowed. No one coming to join the rally can carry any kind of locally made weapons such as sticks, rods, axes, scythes, spears, choppers, under the cover of banners and festoons. No one can come to the rally venue with processions. If the conditions set out in this order are not properly obeyed, the permission for the rally will be considered void immediately. The authority holds the power to cancel the permission without citing any reason if there is any case of public safety and interests being put at stake.
