The home ministry on Thursday formed a monitoring cell to observe the overall political situation and probable coincident in the country regarding the rally scheduled by the main opposition BNP and conflicting stances of the ruling and opposition parties.
Home Ministry’s Additional Secretary (Political) Kamal Uddin Ahmed will coordinate the activities of the cell while the ministry’s Joint Secretary Md Mojakker Ali will assist him.
A total of 12 deputy and senior assistant secretaries will work for the cell.
An order of the ministry signed by its deputy secretary Suraiya Parveen Shely said the cell has been formed to monitor the overall law and order situation of the country, including Dhaka city, from 8am Friday to 8pm Saturday.
The order also reads that emergency instructions will be given from the monitoring cell if needed during this period.
