Update : 23 Oct 2013, 08:24 PM

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena Wednesday travelled to India as part of his ongoing consultations with Indian officials and US embassy officials based in New Delhi.

“Ambassador Mozena will visit India on Wednesday as part of his ongoing consultations with the US Embassy in New Delhi,” Press & Information Officer at the US Embassy in Dhaka Kelly S McCarthy informed the Dhaka Tribune through email.

“While he [Mozena] is there, he will also meet civil society, business leaders and representatives of the Government of India where he will discuss the full range of our robust bilateral engagement with Bangladesh,” Kelly said.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, Mozena visited the residence of Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Pankaj Saran and had a meeting.

“We talked about everything just as you would expect and I see him (Pankaj Saran) quite often,” Mozena had said after a meeting with Home Minister Mohiudding Khan Alamgir at his office on Tuesday evening.

“We talked about Indo-Bangladesh cooperation, we talked about increasing trade between the two countries, we talked about how America can play a role to facilitate expanding trade between the two countries,” he said.

In the afternoon, Mozena had lunch with some diplomats of Western countries at a local hotel.

The diplomats were British High Commissioner Robert Gibson, Canadian High Commissioner Heather Cruden and EU ambassador William Hanna.
