BGB recovers large quantities of Yaba

Nearly 25,000 Yaba was recovered in Teknaf during two drives by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Monday.

Major Shafiqur Rahman of 42 BGB Battalion confirmed that they had acted on a tip-off and conducted raids in two areas to recover a large number of the illegal drugs.

During a raid conducted around 9pm on Sunday, BGB found 10,004 pieces of Yaba from the area near Arai Sluice Gate by the Naf River.

Major Rahman said the smugglers fled when they realised members of the BGB were approaching, leaving the comsignment of narcotics behind as they rushed to escape.

While in a separate raid on Monday, BGB recovered 14,090 pieces of the drug worth Tk4m from a shrimp project located at Choudhurypara in Hnila. The shrimp farm’s owner was identified as Anwar.
