Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina proposed forming an all-party government which would run the country during the next general election.
She also invited the main opposition BNP to suggest names from the party lawmakers who will be included in the cabinet of the poll-time government.
She came up with the proposal while addressing the nation Friday evening.
She, however, did not specifically provide any modality for the all-party government.
Hasina also asked BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to state her demands clearly.
The parliament will expire on Jan 24 and election should be held within 90 days before expiry of parliament. There is no bar on parliament session even after Oct 24.
The elections will be held under the ruling government according to the 15th amendment made in 2011 by the Awami League-led government abolishing the provision of caretaker government.
BNP has been demanding the restoration of the provision and has warned of dire consequences otherwise.
Opposition chief Khaleda Zia is determined to hold the October 25 BNP rally from where the party's plans for the future is expected to be rolled out.
Recently, a BNP leader had called activists to “be prepared with arms” while attending the rally.
