Nargis Jafar, wife of poet Sikander Abu Jafar, died yesterday. She had been suffering from old age complications for the last three months.
She died at 10:45am at Birdem Hospital, said family sources. She left behind her only son Saeed Alamgir Jafar, professor of IBA, Dhaka University, and a host of relatives and well-wishers.
Nargis was the first woman librarian in the country and served USIS library for over three decades. She was the vice-president and treasurer of Bangladesh Mohila Samity and active social worker for many years.
Her namaz-e-janaza will be held after Zohr prayers at Takwa Mosque, Dhanmondi, road no 10 (new) today. She will be buried at Hasmi Bari family graveyard at Tentulia village of Satkhira.
